HiP (Histoires Photographiques) Exhibition - Levallois-Perret
This photographic series, created using the traditional wet plate collodion technique, explores portraits of women on glass plates, revealing both their fragility and their power. This idea was born out of my fascination with this ancient photographic technique. Glass embodies both the power of brilliance and the fragility of breakage – a perfect parallel with the essence of these women and their complex stories. With its finesse and unique texture, this approach seemed ideal for revealing their duality and capturing the depth of their experiences. Each woman wears clothes that bear witness to her identity. The clothes, often marked by time and hardship, are silent witnesses to these women's journeys and transformations. Women create an aesthetic mask for themselves. A beauty that reassures, that impresses. But beneath this sculpted perfection, there are cracks, wounds, stories that cannot be seen. These photos capture this paradox: a shining façade, but behind the made-up eyes, there are invisible scars, stories that are too often untold. In these images, the weapons they hold symbolise their inner strength, traces of suffering reveal the trials they have endured. Despite everything, they radiate dignity, beauty and a fighting spirit.
